Stansted Airport Propose Passive Expansion Plan
Stansted Airport could be set to become the UK's second busiest Airport behind Heathrow. The proposed plans were revealed when a request to Uttlesfort Council for an environmental assessment. Alistar Anderews, the Stansted Airport head of planning, said 'We are aiming to submit a planning application later this year, and this scoping report is part of preparing that application.
Under these new expansion plans Stansted would receive 10million new passengers bringing the passengers per anum from 35million to 44.5million with an extra 11,000 flights a year. Stansted Airport would build two new links to the runway & six additional aircraft stands. The proposed expansion has faced heavy criticism from residents over noise & sound pollution. Local resident Peter Sanders stated, "We will be making representations to Uttlesford District Council’.
